Promising Fun, Food, Bargains, Memories, and More

This summer, a sweeping assortment of activities, attractions, and amusements will come together in one super hometown celebration – Saline Summerfest 2009– to happen August 7 - 8 on the streets of Downtown Saline.

Last year’s Summerfest brought the traditional festivities of Saline’s annual “Picnic in the Park” from Mill Pond Park to Downtown Saline for the first time. By all accounts, Saline Summerfest 2008 was a smash hit, drawing large and enthusiastic crowds.

This year’s highlights will again include musical and dance performances, the Saline Rotary Club’s Friday Night Casino, Saturday’s Blackjack Challenge, children’s games and activities, and “Saline Street Machines” featuring 100+ classic cars.
Again in 2009: a juried craft show – including vegetable art – sponsored by Saline’s 212 Art Center, and a tour by trolley car of many of Saline’s oldest and most notable buildings conducted the Saline Area Historical Society.

Also during Summerfest, bargain hunters can browse the city’s streets for exclusive deals from participating Downtown Saline merchants. “After all that shopping,” says Art Trapp, director of Saline’s Downtown Development Authority, “Summerfest attendees are sure to build up some hunger. That’s their chance to check out Saline’s growing selection of fine restaurants. They’ll see all that Downtown Saline has to offer.”

Saline-area families – along with everyone else looking for great food, great shopping, great history, and great fun – are urged to keep August 7-8 open for Saline Summerfest 2009, a sure-to-be-memorable event.
